Job summary

Due to the Retirement, we are able to offer the opportunity to join a friendly, very caring practice with high patient satisfactions rate. We are looking for a 4 - 6 session GP to join our friendly team as salaried GP with a view to becoming a partner in near future. We would encourage you to arrange an informal visit, or alternatively we do have some locum dates available which would give you the experience of working in the practice with the team.

Main duties of the job

  • Patient consultations within the surgery

  • rarely need for home visit mainly for palliative care patients only

  • Monitoring patients conditions and wellbeing

  • Clinical examinations

  • Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses/ailments

  • Health education

  • Liaising with other healthcare professionals (e.g. Advanced Nurse Practitioner, practice nurses, midwife, cluster pharmacist and health visitors ) as part of multidisciplinary teams

Job description

Job responsibilities

Working in accordance with the practice timetable; the applicant will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including telephone consultations, surgery consultation queries, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, reviewing results and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.

  • Accessing the healthcare needs of patients

  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

  • Consultation with patients and in-line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health

  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

  • Providing counselling and health education

  • Referring patients to our cluster projects where applicable

  • Delivering enhanced services

  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

  • Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies where appropriate

  • Compiling and issuing of computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions

  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary whenever clinically appropriate

In general, the applicant will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
