Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity within our secretarial/admin team.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and proactive in providing a high standard of patient care.

You will thrive working as part of a small committed team, but will also be able to work independently using your own initiative.

Main duties of the job

You will provide secretarial and coding support to our practice team and patients.

You will be able to work calmly under pressure and to deadlines, yet still giving attention to detail.

You will have exceptional communication and inter personal skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to liaise with all team members, patients and secondary care colleagues.

You will promote a positive and friendly image of the practice to patients, visitors and attached staff

As a small team, it is essential that you can be flexible and supportive covering annual leave and other absences within the practice team as necessary.

About us

Fenham Hall Medical Group is a high performing, dynamic and supportive practice team, providing a high standard of care to our diverse patient population of 10700 patients.

We are a close practice team, consisting of 8 GPs, a nursing team of 5 and an admin/reception team of 8 together with attached staff and PCN colleagues.

We are a busy practice, and our environment is sometimes challenging, but we pride ourselves on our supportive culture and working with our patients to deliver a high standard of accessible care.

We are members of Newcastle Inner West PCN, and CQC rated as "Good"

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

a. Accurately clinically coding data on EMISinto the patient record

b. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action

c. Inputting and extracting data as required to support practice reports

d. Filing and storing records as required

e. Photocopying documentation as required

f. Actioning all incoming correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner

g. Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records

h. Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessary

i. Answering incoming telephone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

j. Carrying out system searches as requested

k. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

l. Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
