Advanced Practitioner (Advanced Nurse, Paramedic, Physician Associate or other Advanced Healthcare Professional)

Hours: 37.5 per week job share and / or part-time working considered for exceptional applicants.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Brunel Medical Practice for an advanced practitioner to join our large, friendly and well established multi-disciplinary clinical team. We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic clinicians with recent clinical experience and the desire and drive to provide our patients with the highest standard of care in undertaking the wide and varied clinical role.

The practice seeks to further develop a patient centred model of care, with Advanced Clinical Practitioners working together in a supportive hub. Clinical support and ongoing professional development play an integral part in our approach to delivering excellent care.

A clinician at an earlier stage of their career and eager for development may be considered.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be an experienced healthcare professional, who acting within their professional boundaries; will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice in alignment with the 4 pillars of advanced clinical practice.

  • The post holder will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
  • The post holder will build effective working relationships with other health care professionals.
  • The post holder will work within the team of GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, physician associates and health care assistants to deliver excellent primary health care services within the practice.
  • The role will involve delivering acute care to housebound patients and those currently living in a care home.

Brunel Medical Practice is based in Torquay and cares for more than 16000 patients. We are a member of the Torquay Primary Care Network and collaborate with all practices in the locality, working together as Torbay General Practice.

Brunel is based across 3 sites in Torquay, with a diverse team of more than 70 staff.

  • Professional registration
  • Evidence of advanced clinical skills
  • Evidence of advanced critical thinking skills, clinical decision making and assessment and management of clinical risk
  • Autonomous practice qualification
  • Clinical assessment qualification at Min of Academic Level 7

Desirable

  • Masters level qualification
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Management qualification
  • Mentorship or teaching qualification

Experience

Essential

  • 1 year recent relevant experience at AFC band 6 or above
  • 5 years post qualification clinical experience
  • Familiar with the interpretation of diagnostics and principles of clinical decision-making
  • Understanding of Health Care Governance and its application
  • Awareness of own scope of practice
  • Ability to manage risk

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching at informal and formal level
  • Previous autonomous practice as nurse / AHP practitioner
  • Level 3 safeguarding training in last 12 months
