Brunel Medical Practice cares for more than 16,000 patients across 3 sites in Torquay. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Physicians Associate, with good communication and organisational skills to complement our existing friendly healthcare team.

Main duties of the job

As Physician Associate, you will work as part of a supported team using your skills which includes (but is not limited to):

  • Working with your own list of patients
  • Conducting triage, assessing e-consult forms, calling and visiting patients face-to-face and passing patients onto GPs, where appropriate for further consultation
  • Care planning
  • Supporting GPs with managing results
  • Supporting GPs with their paperwork, which will include Chronic Condition Reviews for QOF

Physicians Associate

  • Permanent
  • Full Time 37.5 hours a week
  • Torquay, Devon (contributions to relocation costs considered for the right candidate)
  • Salary Band 7 plus NHS pension plus matched annual leave of up to 6 weeks.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physicians Associate to join our team.

As Physician Associate, you will work as part of a supported team using your skills which includes (but is not limited to):

  • Working with your own list of patients
  • Conducting triage, assessing e-consult forms, calling and visiting patients face-to-face and passing patients onto GPs, where appropriate for further consultation
  • Care planning
  • Supporting GPs with managing results
  • Supporting GPs with their paperwork, which will include Chronic Condition Reviews for QOF
  • Creating relationships both internally and externally

Reporting to the Clinical Director and Practice Manager, as the Physician Associate you will act within your professional boundaries, providing care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care under the supervision of a GP.

You will show safe clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice, in consultation with the duty GP. You will work with the multi-disciplinary general practice team to support the delivery of policy and procedures and meet the needs of patients.

Supervision and mentoring will be provided by the appropriate senior medical staff - the type of support will depend on the post holders skills and knowledge and determined by our clinical governance arrangements. You will be supported in career development and progression.

You will have annual appraisals and continuing professional development as provided by Management and set out by the Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA).

Your role is a key part of our practice, working to provide an enhanced care experience, with a view to improving the service.

  • Experience of working in a Physicians Associate role or similar
  • Experience of working in a health care setting
  • Experience of working with vulnerable patients
  • Excellent IT Skills, including Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel and Word
  • To be educated to degree level in healthcare or business

Whilst not essential, it would be beneficial to your application if you have worked in Primary care or if you have working knowledge of Emis Webb.

Whilst primarily based at one site, this role may involve an element of travel between our three practice sites as and when required.
