Practice Nurse

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly rural practice as a Practice Nurse. You will be part of a well-respected, supportive practice that prides itself on providing high quality care for its patients.

The ideal candidate will already have all basic practice nursing skills (see main duties below) including baby immunisations, travel immunisations, cytology and chronic disease management including diabetes.

Main duties of the job

Main duties will include:

• Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs
• Organise and co-ordinate the provision of nursing services for the practice, to include the delegation of duties to other practice nursing staff as appropriate
• Cytology
• Wound care / ulcer care/ Doppler
• Removal of Sutures
• Travel Clinic
• ECGs
• Asthma/Peak Flow Readings
• Venepuncture
• Hypertension Management
• Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
• Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
• Family planning
• Chronic disease management, particularly Diabetes and Coronary Heart Disease
• Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate

The practice is supported by our excellent multi-disciplinary team. We operate from purpose-built premises, across 2 sites (Fenny Compton and Shenington) providing high quality care to approx. 5,400 patients.
