Job summary

Scots Gap Medical Group is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Practice Manager. We are a rural dispensing practice with around 2100 patients.

Main duties of the job

The practice manager will work closely with 2 practice GP partners, a practice nurse, an HCA, medicine manager, dispensing and admin team to achieve the best outcome for our patients.

About us

We are a small and friendly team and are looking for someone with potential to grow and develop the business. Ideally GP Practice experience would be preferred but is not essential. The practice manager will also be responsible for our branch site in Stamfordham.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the practice manager. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels. The practice manager is responsible for: Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities, Functional management of all clinical and administrative staff, Direct line management of the following staff: Administrative staff, Health Care Assistants, Practice Nurses, Managing the recruitment process for the practice, Establishing, reviewing and regularly updating Job Descriptions and Person Specifications, Managing contracts for services i.e. cleaning, gardening, window cleaning etc , Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives, Reviewing and updating of all practice policies and procedures, Coordinating the compilation of practice reports and the practice development plan (PDP), Developing, implementing and embedding an efficient business resilience plan and disaster planning. Managing the financial elements of the practice, including budgets, petty cash, pensions, payroll, VAT returns, HMRC, claims etc. in conjunction with the partners if required, Ensuring the team reach QOF targets (supported by the nursing and administrative leads), local and national enhanced services, Coordinating the practice diary, ensuring meetings are scheduled appropriately, Liaising at external meetings as required.Marketing the practice appropriately, Production of practice newsletters on a quarterly basis, Managing the Patient Participation Group, Managing all complaints effectively, Ensuring compliance with HR legislation and dealing with disciplinary issues accordingly,.The management of the premises, including health and safety aspects such as risk assessments and mandatory training .Managing the practice IT system, delegating staff to act as administrators, Ensuring compliance with IT security, GDPR and IG, Coordinating of all projects within the practice.Ensuring all staff have the appropriate level of training to enable them to carry out their individual roles and responsibilities effectively, Maintaining the practice and NHS choices websites.Overall management of dispensary DSQS, safety, stock control, VAT returns .Annual appraisals for all staff

  • Educated to a minimum of A levels or equivalent
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuing professional development and training in different areas of management
