Job summary

Here at Caythorpe and Ancaster Medical Practice we have an exciting opportunity for a Receptionist to join our team. The duties of a Receptionist include- receiving, assisting and directing patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare in a professional, courteous, efficient and effective way. Providing general assistance to the Practice team and projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

The contracted hours for the successful candidate are-

Tuesday- 15:30-18:30

Thursday- 8:30-13:30

Friday- 8:30-18:30

Total of 18 hours a week plus additional overtime tocover holiday and sickness.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality, professional reception service to patients, doctors, staff, colleagues, health service professionals and others. To act as the first point of contact for patients contacting the Practice and to portray the Practice in the highest possible professional manner. To ensure that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent customer care skills and compassion for others
  • Be able to deal with anxious and demanding patients
  • Possess excellent IT skills and a willingness to learn
  • Demonstrate flexibility in hours to support the team
  • Be capable of prioritising tasks and remaining calm under pressure
  • Work to a high professional standard and avoid mistakes
  • Have excellent communication skills to liaise with patients and colleagues

Previous experience within Primary Care is an advantage, but not essential as training will be given.

About us

At Caythorpe and Ancaster Medical Practice we are a rural training and dispensing practice, working from two sites. We provide health care for a population of 9,400 patients scattered over approximately 50 villages in southwest Lincolnshire.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Greet all patient and visitors into the Practice in a warm friendly manner.

Assist with all patients questions and queries.

Answer all telephone calls in a timely professional manner.

Make and amend appointments for patients.

Give out results to patient following all confidentiality protocols.

Support patients by entering AskMyGP requests.

Enter home visit requests via AskMyGP and print off visit sheets for doctors.

Complete urgent Scanning (Faxes) and photocopying.

Send Faxes and dealing with incoming faxes.

Register new patients and temporary residents, including inputting all information required from Patient.

Generate and Regenerate new online prescription password.

Seek out patients notes when requested by a doctor.

Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services/inputting into Petty Cash Book.

Book all home BP machines out and in.

Complete all Tasks/Notifications on SystmOne that are required.

Action and forward the Out of Hours Sheets each morning.

Deal with general enquiries and complaints.

Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary

Ensure the waiting room is kept neat and tidy at all times.
