Job summary

Pemberton Surgery is a forward thinking and high achieving training practice with approximately 10,300 patients in Wigan, Greater Manchester and we are looking forward to recruiting and welcoming a six session salaried GP to expand and enhance our team.

We offer excellent rates of pay and flexibility for the right doctors. Within our practice we employ the Lead Nurse for the Borough, and the Education Lead GP for the PCN.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated enthusiastic candidate to join our hard-working friendly team who is willing to develop long-term working relationships with our patient population.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to lead and innovate in areas of interest where there are gaps whilst adding to the varied services we provide to our patients and some neighbouring (PCN) patients.

What the practice can offer a candidate:

We can offer a Salaried GP opportunity for 6 sessions with included CPD sessions pro rata. We are flexible with regard to session start and finish times. on days or sessions that are not on call to enable a better work-life balance where possible. We are a friendly bunch and would very much welcome an informal visit so you can meet us and see who we are. Pemberton Surgery prides itself on working closely as a team and every member is valued.

CPD session pro rate as per BMA contract

Support in developing your own interests in specific areas of medicine or teaching. We have recently become a training practice and can accommodate GP trainers if interest is there to do so.

Above all we are looking for someone who will fit with our team outlook and will enjoy being a GP in a diverse and deprived practice area.

About us

The practice comprises of 3.6 FT GP partners, 2 PT Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses (2 WTE), 1 HCA, 1 Clinical Pharmacist and a large practice administration team led by 2 managers and 1 manager in training.The practice had a CQC inspection in 2016 and was rated Outstanding in 1 area and Good overall.

Our team has developed an innovative model of sustainable General Practice to provide the best possible quality of care. We have a dynamic management, administrative, nursing team and practice pharmacist all working to free up valuable time for our GPs.

We are friendly, professional and caring. We are passionate about providing safe and effective care for all. Our clinical team are multi skilled and embrace our forward thinking practice culture that aims to be outstanding in everything we do.

The practice has strong links with fellow PCN practices and supports Wigan Central and North PCNs. We are also heavily involved in our local GP federation and we are always looking to innovate and participate in new projects.

We consistently obtain high QOF achievement and have a proven track record with good results. Our clinicial systems are EMIS and Docman. We use the online consulting tool AskMyGP for online access and we operate a total triage system which has been fine tuned and works well.

We keep our workload manageable and sustainable with the help of our supportive team.
