Job summary

Pemberton Surgery is looking to appoint an experienced general practice administrator to join our existing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic and is willing to succeed in a busy office environment.

Main duties of the job

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person, electronically or via the telephone.

We are looking for someone who has experience in day to day administration including:

  • Dealing with and distributing practice emails
  • Processing clinical correspondence via Docman, including coding of information into the clinical system
  • Dealing with patient requests using the online consulting facility 'AskmyGP'
  • Processing pathology lab results
  • Assisting with secretarial duties
  • Assisting with prescription processing duties
  • Assisting with recalling patients
The list is not exhaustive but all elements of the role will be administrative.

About us

Pemberton Surgery is a busy general practice with a patient population of 10,400 patients.

We are situated in a purpose built health centre which is shared by 2 GP practices, community clinic and a dentist.

The practice team comprises of 4 GP partners, 2 ANPs, 3 practice nurses, 1 HCA, clinical pharmacist, physician associate, Practice manager, Operations manager, Administration co-ordinator, Reception supervisor, part time Secretary and 11 admin/receptionist.

We are also a GP/nursing training practice.

We are a very friendly, hardworking and supportive team who deals with the ever changing face of general practice effectively.

We are active members of our Primary Care Network and are members of a GP federation.

  • Advanced level Microsoft Office
  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Recognised qualification to diploma level or above

  • Sound knowledge of Windows and MS office
  • It literate
  • Experience in working in general practice
  • Experience of a GP clinical system
  • Experience of a document management system i.e. Docman
