Job summary

To assist the GPs,AHP,ANPs and Practice Nurse team in the service delivery and management of patients.

To abide by practice policies and procedures.

Always maintain patients privacy and dignity and provide a level of care appropriate in a compassionate and sensitive manner.

Be part of a forward-thinking practice contributing and assisting in areas of audit and evidence-based practice development.

Develop and maintain nursing competencies in physical assessment skills to maintain high quality and safe care.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to general house-keeping duties within the practice, such as general tidiness, maintain infection control standards, re-stock levels are met and maintained and any clinical equipment that is used is clean, working and stored correctly.

Assist with admin and clerical duties as required.

Main duties of the job

Always ensure privacy and dignity.

When relevant, understand why observations are taken and be able to take and record appropriately. Inform nurse or GP or any concerns or above target recording as appropriate and by specific policy guidance.

Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children by reporting any concerns to Safeguarding leads within the practice.

Be competent and capable of providing physical assessment as required by requests of PN/GP/ANP.

To be able to complete competently the requirements of the QOF templates in LTC (Long term condition) management. Including foot checks, venepuncture, BP, Height, weight etc.

Vaccinate children and adults within the remit of PSDs as required by immunisation policy.

Administer safely B12 IM injections disposing of equipment as appropriate as per guidance.

Assist as required in the emergency management of patients.

Assist within minor surgery / Coil clinics as required.

Provide relevant patient information leaflets to the patient.

Ensure that all PNs,GPs,ANPs are kept informed of any changes with the patients conditions or observations as guidance or as requested.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade 4 C or above English and Maths
  • Ability to communicate with members of the public and health care providers.
  • Presents self as courteous, respectful and helpful
  • Ability to work effectively under direct supervision, and as part of the whole practice team.

  • Care Certificate
