Main duties of the job
The job description for a Patient Advisor includes the following duties and responsibilities:
Predominantly working in our 'Comms room', answering phone calls from patients, dealing with queries and providing information about services offered by the practice.
Responsibility for greeting patients as they arrive, checking them in for appointments, and directing them to the appropriate waiting area.
Scheduling appointments for patients using the practice's appointment system and manage the appointment diary to ensure that the practice runs smoothly.
Dealing with queries from patients face-to-face, by phone, or by email. This may include providing information about the practice, booking appointments, and dealing with prescription requests.
Maintaining and updating patient medical records, ensuring that they are accurate and up-to-date. They also explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
Managing range of administrative tasks, making charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accepting payment and issuing receipts for same.
Liaising with healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses and other medical staff to coordinate patient care.
Complying with all relevant health and safety regulations, data protection laws, and other legal requirements.
Supporting the practice team, working collaboratively to ensure that the practice runs smoothly.
