Job summary
Are you interested in a career in Clinical Research
in Primary Care?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, Band 6 equivilant, Clinical Research
Nurse to work 2 days (approx. 15 hours) a week to coordinate and deliver
clinical research in Northallerton, in a primary care setting.
We are two GP surgeries (Mayford House Surgery and Mowbray
House Surgery) already performing research with portfolio studies but looking
to develop our team and work more collaboratively between the two sites. We
hope to move towards performing commercial studies and have expressed interest
in several already. Mayford House is one of the highest recruiters to studies
in the local area and has a small research team. Mowbray is a larger practice
previously involved with research. Both practices are less than a 10 minute
walk away from each other and work closely together also having electronic
shared access to records.
The Research Nurse is an autonomous specialist
working within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will take
responsibility for the co-ordination and management of a clinical research
portfolio and commercial clinical trials.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop clinical
research in primary care in a supportive environment. We recognise the benefits of flexible hybrid working,
depending on the clinical need. As this is a new role (which we hope has big
opportunities to develop further in the future), we are flexible as to the
preferred working days.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities will include:
- Education of patients and colleagues.
- Co-ordination of care of patients on trials.
- Collection and preparation of biological samples.
- Collection of trial data and monitoring of the expected and
unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities.
The post holder will be expected to develop
specialised skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of clinical trials,
the therapies and the relevant disease sites. The post holder will be expected
to have sufficient skills to enable patients to make informed choices
concerning their involvement in clinical trials by providing advice and
information and acting as the patients advocate.
About us
Mayford House and Mowbray House GP surgeries have a
close working relationship together and also as part of the Hambleton North Primary
Care Network. We have a combined patient population of approximately 30,000
patients. We are proactive and innovative and keen to take the lead in
developing Primary Care research in this locality, hopefully inspiring other
practices to do the same.
Our vision is to deliver excellent patient care and
develop health care for the future.
