Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Reception
Supervisor to join our team on a 9 month fixed term maternity contract, starting May 2026.
This role is central to ensuring the smooth running of our reception and front of house
services, working alongside our other Reception Supervisor providing leadership to our reception team and delivering a high
standard of patient care.
Monday to Friday between the hours of 08.00am - 18.30pm.
The Reception Team is the first point of contact that patients and visitors have when they go to a GP practice. They play an integral part at the surgery, putting patients care as a priority. Full support is given to all staff and we have an Open Door Policy any time of the day... our Reception Supervisor will play a vital part of a team.
We are a very friendly surgery with a good range of GP's, ANP's, Nurses, HCA's. We are a teaching practice with 2 registrar's, proficient and professional reception and admin team. We offer valuable training in all aspects of reception work.
Previous experience would be beneficial as a supervisor within Primary Care or a Receptionist looking for the next step.
The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order)
Main duties of the job
- Supervise, support, and mentor the reception team on a daytoday basis
- Ensure reception cover is maintained across all opening hours
- Lead by example in delivering a professional, patientfocused service
- Manage appointment workflows, triage processes and ensure efficient patient flow
- Support with staff rotas, absence reporting, and workload allocation
- Handle escalated patient queries, complaints and service issues
- Liaise with clinical and management teams to support practice operations
- Contribute to continuous improvement and implement process changes
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality, GDPR and practice policies
- Assist with training new reception staff and supporting ongoing development
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and on the telephone.

About us
At Strathmore Medical Practice we have 5 Partners, 3 Salary GP's, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses, 2 HCA's and a number of admin and reception staff.
We are the largest GP Practice in Wrexham and strive to provide the best patient care as possible.

Strathmore is an extremely busy GP Practice with over 14 000 patients and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Reception Team working alongside our current Reception Supervisor to support our Reception and Admin Team.
Flexibility is necessary as start times may change depending of the business needs.
The Reception Team have 2 Reception Supervisors, one of which is going on Maternity from May 2026.
- Previous experience in a GP practice, medical environment, or similar busy customer facing setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Confident using clinical systems (e.g., EMIS/Docman) training can be provided

- Comfort patients by anticipating patients anxieties, answering patients questions, and maintaining the reception area.

- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
