Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Receptionist / Administrator to work 37 hours per week in our friendly, busy General Practice Team, to assist with the navigation for our patients and administration duties.

To act as the focal point of communication between patients, doctors, managers and other members of the wider Primary Health Care Team. To signpost to relevant Clinicians/Services that would be most suitable to the patient.

Hours of work: Monday - Friday between the hours of 08:00-18:30 on a rota basis

Main duties of the job

  • Deal with all general enquiries efficiently and courteously
  • Answering phones in a timely manner
  • Booking appointments
  • Opening post and filing/ allocating documents as per practice protocols and processes
  • Dealing with prescriptions requests
  • Raising referrals and typing referral letters
  • Liaising with local hospitals, pharmacies and other health care professionals as required
  • Take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
  • Daily management of tasks and patient notes
  • Chasing up results for patients and dealing with urgent results for the GPs
  • Printing blood forms and completion of any other forms as necessary
  • Chaperoning patients as and when required
  • Safely handling / processing samples received from patients following practice protocols
  • Attending mandatory training sessions
  • Accept payment and issue receipts for relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services
  • Provide support in achieving the Practice Targets such as QOF
  • Maintaining full familiarity of the appointment system and request training where necessary
  • Registering new patients
  • Maintaining patient records
  • Dealing with any queries from clinicians in a timely manner
  • Attending Practice meetings
  • Any other duties considered appropriate to the post

About us

We are a friendly supportive and busy General Practice with approximately 7400 patients.

We are an established team with vast experience of dealing with patients and clinical queries. We have two very experienced GP's, Practice Nurses, on site clinical Pharmacists and many other Healthcare professionals.

We are also part of the Primary Care Network (PCN) encompassing 8 local General Practices. The PCN provides guidance and support and shares a variety of resources and always looks out for the development of new services to improve patient care.
