Job summary
Studfall Medical Centre is a very friendly practice situated in Corby Northamptonshire and caters for 8481 patients.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated person to work within our busy and professional Reception team.
The post is a permanent position for 25 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be confident, professional with excellent telephone skills and able to interact positively with our patients providing a consistently high level of service and patient care. They must also be extremely flexible for sickness and holiday cover amongst the reception team.
Communication skills and computer literacy are essential. Previous experience especially with SystmOne is desirable but not essential as full training will be offered to the right candidate.
Hours of work are to be advised but the applicant must be available to work any hours between 08:00 and 18:30

Main duties of the job
Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
Flexibility in working patterns is essential to ensure the surgery is adequately staffed through the opening hours of 8:00am to 6:30pm
This post needs someone who is calm under pressure, can be flexible with working patterns if needed, can cope with a busy office environment, and can work as a team.
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
- Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
- Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
About us
We have 8481 registered patients who are looked after by a team of 4 Partners, 4 GP's, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Nurses, 3 HCA's, a Management team and a Reception/Admin team. We are also a Training practice and currently train Registrars
We have a branch site at Weldon which at the moment is only open minimal hours and this is a dispensing site.
