We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Pharmacy Technician to join our established team at Bridge Medical Centre in Crawley, West Sussex. Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the Role:

  • Support clinicians in medicines optimisation and repeat prescription processes

  • Liaise with community pharmacies and care homes to ensure medication safety and continuity

  • Process repeat medication requests accurately and efficiently, using System One

  • Provide medication advice within scope of competence and escalate where needed

  • Conduct audits and support QOF and other medicines-related targets

  • Monitor and support medication reviews, drug monitoring, and shared care protocols

  • Contribute to reducing waste and promoting cost-effective prescribing

Job responsibilities

Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and competent Pharmacy Technician to join our multidisciplinary team at Bridge Medical Centre. The role involves supporting the practice's clinical and administrative functions with a focus on medicines optimisation, repeat prescribing, and safe, effective medication use across the practice population. The Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of a Clinical Pharmacist and GPs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Medicines Optimisation:

Support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation.

Provide support for patients with chronic disease management in line with local and national guidance.

Implement prescribing changes agreed at practice and PCN level.

Promote cost-effective and evidence-based prescribing.

2. Repeat Prescribing & Administration:

Review and manage repeat medication requests.

Ensure prescriptions are issued accurately and safely, aligning with clinical protocols.

Maintain up-to-date records on SystmOne.

3. Clinical Support:

Support the Clinical Pharmacist with audits, QOF work, and clinical safety reviews.

Identify patients eligible for structured medication reviews.

Assist in the recall and management of patients requiring medication monitoring.

4. Communication & Teamwork:

Liaise with community pharmacies and local services to ensure safe transfer of care.

Participate in practice meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.

Provide support and training to new staff and apprentices where appropriate.

5. Professional Development:

Maintain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Attend CPD sessions and maintain a personal development portfolio.

Comply with all governance, safeguarding, and infection control standards.

Essential Requirements:

Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC.

Experience in a pharmacy setting (primary care, PCN, or community pharmacy).

Knowledge of medicines legislation and NHS prescribing systems.

Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.

Desirable:

Experience with SystmOne.

Experience in general practice or PCN-based roles.

Knowledge of QOF, enhanced services, and clinical audits.

Working Hours: Full-time or part-time options considered
