Job summary

We are looking for a HCA to join our fast moving and positive Practice team based in Three Bridges, Crawley, West Sussex.

The role of the HCA is to support the nursing and doctor teams in delivering patient care and maintaining a safe, effective treatment environment. Responsibilities include clinical support, patient care, infection control, stock rotation, and various routine health monitoring activities. The HCA contributes to quality and efficiency by adhering to established protocols and maintaining competence in all delegated tasks. The role strictly adheres to the boundaries of practice defined within this job description, with supervision sought for any tasks outside established competencies.

Main duties of the job

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care

The HCA will undertake the following patient care duties, under the delegation and guidance of the clinical team:

- Conducting new patient health checks and NHS Health Checks.

- Performing venepuncture and ensuring prompt dispatch of laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and swabs, adhering to designated collection times.

blood pressure checks, including ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (24-hour).

Setting up and conducting ECGs a

- Measuring height and weight,

Advising on general lifestyle improvements.

- Providing smoking cessation advice, CHD reviews, hypertension reviews, and general health promotion.

- Assisting with diabetic foot checks, performing simple wound care, suture and clip removal, and basic wound care.

- Undertaking ear irrigation, suture/clip removal, INR monitoring, peak flow recording, and wound swabs.

- Administering flu, pneumonia, and B12 injections under supervision and after adequate training.

Assisting GPs with minor procedures, including joint injections, dressing changes, IUD and Implanon insertions, coil fittings, and other clinics.

NHS Health Checks

Well Person Checks.

- Conducting patient education on lifestyle improvements such as diet, exercise, smoking cessation, and preventative health care measures.

Tasks involving immunisations, such as shingles, pneumococcal, and flu vaccines, will be performed under a Patient Specific Direction with authorised supervision.

About us

Bridge Medical Centre comprises 3 GP Partners, an ACP, Paramedic Practitioner and a nursing team of 6 and a vast supportive administrative team. The Practice is part of the Crawley Care Collaborative PCN who are each members of the Alliance for Better Care Federation.

Our clinicians work independently as well as part of a team collaborating with our own clinical and administrative team whilst also working closely with the Additional Roles from the PCN. These roles comprise Clinical Pharmacists, Dieticians, First Contact Physiotherapists, Mental Health Practitioners, Care Co-ordinators and Social Prescribers.

Make accurate and contemporaneous records of all patient encounters in accordance with practice records protocols and coding protocols

General:
