Are you a compassionate and skilled Phlebotomist looking to make a real difference in patient care? Our well-established, forward-thinking General Practice is seeking a dedicated individual to join our clinical team.
What Youll Do:
Carry out venepuncture for patients over the age of 16
Label and process blood samples in accordance with NHS protocols
Take blood pressures in accordance with NHS protocols.
Work closely with GPs, nurses, and admin staff
Provide reassurance and a calming presence to patients
Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to infection control standards
What Were Looking For:
Proven experience in phlebotomy (ideally within primary care)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A positive, team-oriented attitude
Knowledge of SystmOne (desirable, not essential)
Relevant certification and up-to-date training

Main duties of the job
Be competent and proficient in phlebotomy
Be capable of working within an appointments system, but with a degree of flexibility when necessary
Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures
Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
Checking patient identification against GP/Nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure
Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
Notifying the GP/Nurse of any significant patient issues
Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
