Main duties of the job

Overall management of the day-to-day running of a medical practice, including staff, estates, I.T. management and Clinical Governance in accordance with national and local NHS policies and procedures. CCQ registered Manager, ensuring compliance with essential standards.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will have overall responsibility and will be desired to be proficient in the following areas of Practice Management:

Partnership Strategy & Performance

To provide leadership and management of the Practice to ensure the Practice delivers its agreed objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe and effective working environment.

Contribute and influence the Practice strategy, by researching and developing ideas for future practice development

Develop Practice protocols and procedures in order to meet the CQC standards and deliver excellent primary care

Lead the internal audit process and take responsibility for implementing recommendations from external audits such as CQC.

Collaborative working across NHS Staffordshire & Stoke On Trent ICBIdentify service areas for development and be responsible for implementation of changes.

Patient Services

Adopt a strategic approach to the development and management of patient services, ensuring service delivery is in accordance with local and national guidelines

Maintain an effective complaint management system in order to deliver the highest standard of patient service within the available resources

Actively participate and encourage a good working relationship with the practices PPG

Networking

Participate in local practice management meetings and ICS meetings, feeding back relevant information to the Partners and other Practice staff.

Health and Safety

To be responsible for the management of practice health and safety procedures in line with HFPG policies to include keeping up to date with risk management, health and safety reporting, COSHH assessments, accident, near miss and untoward occurrence reporting ensuring surgery staff and premises are secure and safe. With overall responsibility for fire wardens and first aid procedures.

To undertake risk assessment and identify areas of concern and implement action plans.

Human Resources With the assistance of the Directors

Overall management of human resources to include personnel management, recruiting / interviewing, induction, appraisals, staff development, discipline, grievance, absence and sickness monitoring, in line with HFPG policies and procedures. Responsible for the awareness of HFPG policies and procedures and adherence to these.

Finance management

Overall responsibility as budget holder for the maintenance and upkeep of surgery budgets including petty cash, purchasing and expenditure monitoring and sources of income. Responsible for monthly budget performance, identifying variances and actions required ensuring year-end balance.

Information Technology

Overall responsibility for the management of surgery I.T. systems, to include any future development in Medical computer systems, and liaison with HIS I.T. support. To ensure data protection procedures are upheld and communicated to all staff.

Estates

Responsible for the clinical and non-clinical maintenance of the premises and equipment to ensure good working order. Lead on premises development for future service needs.

Primary Care Network

Represent the Partners & Practice at regular PCN meetings. You will be expected to work closely with the PCN operational manager and other practice managers. Supervise all ARRs roles in close liaison with the clinical director. Contribute to all projects undertaken by the PCN to maximize benefit to patients and practices alike.
