The post-holder will undertake tasks and duties delegated by
the Clinical Director, following policy and procedures.The post-holder will
support the practices in the provision of delivering a woundcare service on
behalf of the PCN revieweing patients across all seven member practices.You
must work at all times within your own competence and use your own judgement,
knowledge, and common sense in your day to day activities.
The Nursing Associate will support
Practice Nurses and General Practitioners to ensure the efficient and effective
running of a wound care clinic across SPEN Primary Care Network. The duties and
responsibilities of the Nursing Associate may include any or all the items in
the following list. Duties may be varied from time-to-time dependent on current
and evolving workload and staffing levels.
Main duties of the job
- To
undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the
Practice Nurse and General Practitioners.
- Undertake
simple dressing procedures/complex dressings/compression following practice
guidelines and using aseptic technique.
- Undertake
doppler assessment (subject to training, knowledge and experience).
- Support
the development of the HCA and trainee Nursing Associate.
- Ensure
adequate stock levels in stock room specific to wound care.
- Ensure
adequate infection control procedures in treatment room.
- Maintain
accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Read Codes
using SystmOne.
- Ensure
accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient
health care.
- Have
the ability to understand when to seek advice and refer patient to other health
professionals.
- To
continue with professional development.
- Participate
in meetings as required within the practice and the PCN.
- Have
the ability to manage workload independently.
- Work
closely with all members of the team across all the practices within the PCN.

Spen Health and Wellbeing Primary Care Network is an alliance of seven practices within Cleckheaton, Liversedge and Heckmondwike, working together under the direction of NHS England for the benefit of its collective patient group.
We aim to align and improve services in the area for our 52,500 registered patients. Our patients are placed at the centre of our care and service delivery. The Board is comprised of GPs, Practice Managers and ANPs from our seven practices - Brookroyd Surgery, Cleckheaton Group Practice, Cook Lane Surgery, The Greenway Medical Practice, Liversedge Health Centre, Parkview Surgery and Undercliffe Surgery.
