Hanham Health is seeking to recruit a Medical Administrator to provide a high-quality support service at the GP Practice based at the MOD
Abbey Wood site in Filton.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our small, patient
centred team, providing Primary Healthcare and Occupational Health support to
military personnel.
You will work 32 hours over 4 days.
Main duties of the job
You will be an ambassador for the Practice offering a
professional and caring welcome to patients and visitors, assisting and
signposting them in person.
You will provide admin support to the clinical staff and work closely
with all members of the MOD team.
Our ideal candidate will be able to prioritise activities,
working in a calm, organised and methodical way, within a busy environment.
There will be opportunity for further training and the
chance to get involved in our patient health promotions.
This role includes access to highly sensitive information
and you must conduct your work with the strictest confidence and comply with
information governance, data protection and record keeping policies at all
times.
Previous experience of working in GP Practice is not
essential as full training will be offered. You just need to have a passion for
providing an exceptional customer service.

Key tasks
- Support and help military patients with all requests and queries in a timely manner, while
keeping patient records and data confidential.
- Provide admin support to the clinical team.
- Manage the e-referral system and hospitals referral database including checking for rejected referrals
and advice and guidance.
- Process post and emails.
- Send prescriptions to nominated pharmacies.
- Liaise with
other military Service providers and non-Service establishments in the UK and
overseas.
- Comply with
practice procedures and protocols in accordance with Defence Primary Healthcare
policies.
- Coach and mentor new members of admin and reception staff.
- Work collaboratively with the military joint service admin unit and
senior personnel.
- Attend and
contribute to staff meetings including governance and assurance.
Roles and responsibilities
- Model mutually
agreed team standards.
- Be aware of
Health and Safety procedures/Risk Management. Understand and adhere to the
Infection Prevention Control guidelines
- Remain up to
date with Defence Primary Healthcare mandatory training.
- Understand and
apply patient confidentiality and information Governance.

information about the practice.
