Job summary
As a receptionist you are the first contact for patients.
You must be presentable, helpful and respectful at all times, in person or on
the phone. You will be required to work as part of an efficient team, and you
will also be able to work under your own initiative. You will be required to work at both our
Millwood and Falkland sites.
You will need to be flexible, able to cover shifts in the
event of sickness, absence, or holiday.
You will be required to be punctual.
You will be expected to undertake any reasonable
request from the Practice in terms of reception/admin roles.
Main duties of the job
Duties Including and not limited to:
Patients dealing with patients on arrival at
the Practice in a polite and friendly manner.
Telephones You will be required to answer the
phone and deal with patient queries, making sure to record all conversations
correctly, pass on messages in a timely and effective manner, pass the patient
to the correct member of staff to deal with their question should you be unable
to do so.
Appointments The Practice uses the Footfall
system for making of appointments. You will be required to understand the
system. Training for use of this system will be given. You will pass the
information on Footfall to the relevant clinician, help the patient to use the
system where/when necessary.
Holiday vaccinations giving out holiday/travel
forms, booking the correct appointments for this service.
Prescriptions giving out completed
prescriptions to patients, adding prescriptions, read coding lost/missed prescriptions.
Recording requests for home visits.

The Millwood Partnership has 5 Partners and 2 salaried GPs, 8 Nurse Practitioners, a large nursing/HCA team, a pharmacy team, a Home Visiting Team, Admin Team and our Reception Team.
Millwood is a friendly environment where our staff like to help and support each other. The reception team consists of 12 members some part time, some full time, all with varying amounts of experience. Mel is the reception/admin manager responsible for overseeing Reception and Admin.

confidentiality of our patient information very seriously, you will be required
to adhere to the information governance policy of the Surgery, and to sign a
confidentiality agreement as part of your induction training.
