Job summary

Lea Vale Medical Group are looking for a well organised Medical Receptionist with excellent communication skills who has experience of working in customer services to join our team. Previous NHS experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

Working hours are: Monday - Friday 7:45am-1:30pm

Main duties of the job

You will be predominantly based in the call centre as the first point of contact for patient enquiries so we are looking for someone who is confident and has an empathetic phone manner. You will have a caring approach and be hard working and motivated to provide the best patient experience.

In this essential role, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

Reception Duties

· Make appointments for patients to see GPs, nurses or others.

· Answer the telephones and make connections as appropriate.

· Provide patients, visitors, etc. with basic information and act as a resource, where more help is required.

· Operate clinical computer system and maintain high quality data entry.

· Communicate with other agencies like transport, phlebotomy, hospital etc.

· File prescriptions, letters and documents in alphabetic order in appropriate place.

· Make sure patient information is entered accurately and stored confidentially.

· Record on the SystmOne system on a daily basis outgoing prescriptions.
