Job summary
Westrop Medical Practice is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Dispensary Manager to join our busy and expanding team. This role is central to the delivery of an accurate, safe, and high-quality dispensing service to our patients.
You will be responsible for managing all dispensary operations, including the supervision of dispensing processes, stock control, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be flexible, proactive, and passionate about delivering excellent patient care.
This position offers the chance to further develop your skills and contribute to a dynamic, patient-focused practice. Ongoing training and support will be provided to help the successful candidate grow within the role.
Person SpecificationEssential:

Qualified dispenser.

Previous experience in a GP or primary care setting.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong computer literacy and familiarity with clinical IT systems.

Ability to prioritise, stay organised, and work independently.

Willingness to work across multiple practice locations.
Desirable:
-
Knowledge of SystmOne or similar patient systems.
-
Understanding of NHS prescription processes (FP10s, FP34D, etc.).

Experience with stock audits and controlled drug procedures.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Dispense and issue prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
Manage stock control and ordering of medications and supplies.
Maintain safe and compliant storage and handling of all drugs, including controlled drugs.
Liaise with GPs, practice staff, and external suppliers to ensure timely availability of medications.
Maintain accurate patient and dispensing records, including regulatory submissions.
Conduct DRUMs (Dispensing Reviews of Use of Medicines).
Support and train colleagues in dispensing procedures as needed.
Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies.
Provide excellent face-to-face and telephone service to patients.
Contribute to general administrative tasks and reception support when needed.
