Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and friendly salaried GP to join our expanding, forward thinking team of Doctors and Allied Health Professionals including First Contact Physiotherapists, Mental Health Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists & pharmacy technicians, Dieticians, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Paramedic Practitioners.

Mentorship & Support

Westrop Medical Practice welcomes and supports newly qualified GPs by offering them a GP mentor and a reduced number of appointments when they start. We are a training practice for GPs, nurses, and nurse associates. We are incredibly supportive of staff who wish to do additional training, develop a special interest, or have a portfolio career.

Main duties of the job

The practice utilises a variety of GP time saving initiatives including:

· A team of Paramedics to help with home visits

· A team of Pharmacist Technicians to handle discharge summaries

· Clinical Pharmacists to help manage repeat prescriptions

· A highly experienced admin support team who code and file letters, so GPs only see the letters they need to see

· Operation managers at each site

· Many allied healthcare professionals to share our workload.

About us

Our Salaried GP Structure

We have recently started a new salaried GP structure with 4 tiers to offer GPs career progression and the chance to take on other roles in the practice for higher rates of pay. As part of the structure, we have developed a new 1-year role of ‘Associate Partner’ to give GPs chance to see what partnership is like. Please see the attached chart on the new structure.

Westrop Medical Practice

Westrop Medical Practice serves a population of over 30,000 in four locations, two are semi-rural locations on the edge of the Cotswolds, one in the centre of Old Town and one in North Swindon.

In addition, our fifth Surgery (Tadpole Surgery) will be opening in early May 2022, offering further services to patients in Tadpole Garden Village and North Swindon.

Westrop Medical Practice’s mission is to be a national exemplar for primary care provision. We work closely with our practice teams to support, develop, and transform patient care and improve processes in the practices with innovation and technology at the heart of what we do. We also play a highly active role in discussions at an ICA and ICS level.

Westrop Medical Practice are members of the Brunel Health Group. Brunel is a group of 14 independent surgeries, who work closely together to offer services such as the COVID vaccination programme and paramedic home visiting service. As a group we provide care to 150 000 patients and we are the largest primary care research group across the Southwest of England.
