Job summary

Lion Healthis a large, friendly teaching practice serving a population of approximately 28,500 patients.

We are based in a modern, recently renovated premises in central Stourbridge.

This post is for a permanent salaried GPs who will conduct 6-8 sessions a week.

Informal visits are welcomed.

Main duties of the job

A Salaried General Practitioner is expected to work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including utilising their assessment and diagnostic skills for patients of the practice. The post holder will be expected to partake in all duty rotas as part of their regular working week (to include on call, AHT supervision, extended access etc.).

It is not intended to be an exhaustive list and the jobholder will be required to have a flexible approach and be adaptable to any changes applicable in the Practice.

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Undertake on call/duty doctor roles
  • Undertake Allied Healthcare Team supervision role providing guidance, support and prescribing support to aid development and ensure safety
  • On a rotational basis, undertake appointments in extended contracted hours
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

c. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)

  • Utilise and demonstrate sensitive communication styles, to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment.
