SENIOR NURSE PRESCRIBER
A vacancy has become available at Bennfield Surgery in Rugby for a
Senior Nurse Prescriber to join their friendly team of 5 GPs, 4 Practice Nurses
and a HCA caring for approximately 8000 patients in a town centre
practice. The practice uses the Emis Web
clinical system.
The ideal candidate will see patients autonomously for a wide
range of minor illness and health related problems, chronic disease management.
An independent nurse prescribing qualification is desirable.
The Nurse Practitioner will be expected to take a leading role
within the nursing team.
Sessions:
5 to 8 sessions per week negotiable.
Main duties of the job
Ability to work in an autonomous way in
association with the General Practitioner, providing patients with an
alternative to the GP for their care.
2 To
manage own caseload, and work within the practice policy.
3 To
receive patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, and to
undertake the initial health assessment and physical examination within agreed
protocols. To develop the diagnosis and
plan of care.
4 Ordering
and interpretation of laboratory tests and appropriate action of test results.
5 To
initiate, perform and monitor therapeutic procedures and treatments.
6 To
prescribe medication as appropriate from the BNF, within own competencies and
according to practice and PCT drug formulary.
7 To
have the authority to admit or discharge patients from own caseload, and to
refer to other members of the primary health care team or to consultants in
secondary care where appropriate.
8 To
screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
9 To
plan, implement and evaluate chronic disease management programmes.
About us
Bennfield Surgery is located within a purpose-built medical practice and has full disabled access, including car park. It provides all the modern facilities you would expect for medical care in the 21stCentury. In addition to the modern waiting rooms and consulting rooms, we are proud to have a clean and modern minor operations theatre for procedures we carry out within the surgery.
Car parking is available at the rear of the property via West Leys and Bennfield Road. The parking is for patients only, for the duration of their appointment. Parking is at your own risk and the surgery does not take any responsibility for vehicles in the car park.
Access to the surgery is fully compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act. Staff on duty are available to assist at any time. A lift is also available to gain access to the 1stfloor consulting rooms.
We have 4 partners in the practice; Dr Doherty, Dr Barnes, Dr Busby and Dr Williams.
In addition to this, we have 1 Nurse Practitioner, 4 Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant and many administrative staff who work behind the scenes.
The practice operates a ZERO tolerance policy on violence, or verbal or physical abuse, towards its staff members and such instances will result in prosecution, where it is deemed necessary.
