Job summary

Are you thinking you want a new start and a fresh challenge?

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our established and busy GP practice for an enthusiastic receptionist to join our friendly team, on a part-time, temporary basis to cover maternity leave. The exact dates of the cover are to be confirmed, but likely to start around September 2025.

We are a SystmOne practice. Experience as a GP receptionist is highly desirable.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties / Key Tasks:

Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.

Provide care navigation/signposting of patients.

Receive and make telephone calls as required.

Liaise with other clinical staff including district nurses, health visitors, etc.

To work in accordance with practice protocols.

Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow up appointments.

Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are followed.

Enter requests for appointments, tasks, general queries into clinical systems, ensuring to carefully record all relevant details and referring to doctor where necessary.

Ensure efficient running of appointment system and monitor flow of patients into treatment/consulting rooms.

  • Willingness to learn new processes and systems
