Manor House Surgery

Job Description

Salaried GP – 8 sessions per week

Hours of work

Full time is defined as 8 clinical sessions per week.

Your job will be 4 full days. The surgery will require the working days to be Tuesdays, Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays as full days. Days may be changed in some circumstances but only after mutual agreement.

The work will consist of the usual day to day activities of a General Practitioner.

Surgeries would generally consist of 16 appointments in the morning and 15 appointments in the afternoon. Appointments consist of a mixture of face to face, video and telephone appointments. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will participate in the on call rota on one or two occasions per week. The on call consists of one session, either morning or afternoon, and we have an on call buddy system where two clinicians work simultaneously.

The Salaried GP will be responsible for a fair proportion of administrative work arising from consultations.

Salary and Pension

Salary would be paid monthly in arrears. The post is a professional role and overtime arising from a general clinical session is not payable. Salaried GPs are pensioned in the NHS pension scheme as assistant practitioners using the GP dynamisation pension calculation method. All GPs are covered by CNSGP but we encourage all practitioners to purchase additional medical indemnity cover. Professional fees must be provided by the employee as it is tax deductible.

Annual and other Leave

6 weeks annual leave pro rata per year. Statutory and public holidays leave entitlements as per BMA guidance. 1 week of study leave pro rata (refer employment contract). Doctors will generally take this in blocks of one whole week. No more than 2.5 GPs may take holiday simultaneously. Holidays are to be booked at least 2 months in advance when possible. Sickness absence is as per practice policy. Compassionate absences will always be considered. There is no entitlement to paid carers’ or dependent’s leave. Maternity leave and guarantee of continued employment will be given, subject to current BMA guidance.

Continuing Professional Development

We are keen for GP’s to develop extra knowledge and skills. Course fees may be paid by the practice – assuming that the course fits in with the Practice’s plan (refer to employment contract).

Mentorship

Your mentors will be Dr Jha and Dr Wilkinson.

Your line manager will be Dr Jha.

Length of contract and notice

The contract will be for one year initially, subject to review and extension at the end of 12 months.

Notice period shall be 12 weeks.
