Job summary

An exciting opportunity at Bersted Green Surgery within the administration team. We are looking for a part time medical secretary to join the team. You would be joining the secretarial team already consisting of 2 part-time secretaries who would be there to support you along the way.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role are to provide secretarial support to the surgery, this includes; Doctors, Paramedics, Pharmacists, Nursing team, managers, social prescribers and physiotherapists.

Job Summary:

To provide general secretarial and administrative support to the Doctors, Health Professionals and Managers involving word processing and audio typing skills with general clerical work.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILTY

Secretarial:

  • To provide secretarial support to the doctors, paramedics, pharmacists, practice nurses, physiotherapists, social prescribers and managers.
  • To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals and minutes of meetings.
  • To deal with enquiries by phone and email from patients, Doctors and secondary care in relation to referrals, results, admissions and discharges.
  • To liaise with reception staff with regard to queries arising during general day-to-day running of the practice.
  • To liaise with local bodies including hospitals, health authorities, primary care groups and other outside agencies.
  • Coding and actioning workflow sent to the secretarial group.
  • Enter, report and code DNACPR forms.
  • Minute meetings as required and provide typed up copies to relevant members of staff within a suitable time frame.
  • Fulfil any training requirements of the surgery and attend surgery meetings as required.

General:

  • To provide cover for members of the secretarial and administration team for periods of sickness and annual leave.
