Our Urgent Care Team has a rare vacancy due to retirement.
Awarded 2019 East Anglian Practice Team Of The Year by the RCGP it has ten physician
associates, paramedics and ANPs supported by GPs. It provides
general medical care to patients who need to be seen urgently, in Practice, in
patients homes and care homes.
We care for 32,000+ patients in an area including a seaside
retirement village and one of the country's most deprived urban wards. This
diversity gives a unique opportunity to utilise your full capability. We are
passionate about helping those suffering due to deprivation, providing the
homeless health care service and were the first to provide a social prescribing
service in the area.
Main duties of the job
Working hours are between 08:30 and 18:30. You will also be
required to work to 20.00 one day per week.
You will need to be able to work to deadlines and to safely make clinical decisions under pressure.
Main duties:
- Using
advanced clinical assessment skills autonomously assess, diagnose and
treat a wide range of conditions and presentations
- Request
and interpret tests e.g. blood tests, imaging and ECGs, to further aid the
diagnosis of complex conditions
- Use various
consultation techniques e.g. in-person consultations, remote assessments utilising
technology
- Visit
housebound patients and those in care homes.
- Refer
patients to primary or secondary care colleagues
- Mentor/
teach students on placement within the Practice.
- Participate
in Practice meetings, presenting interesting cases when they arise
- Act
as a leader and a beacon for clinical excellence
- Use
evidence-based practice

development

Working closely alongside the GPs the UCT has a great team
ethic. UCT team members benefit from a weekly team educational meeting with
ENMP's GPs (pizza supplied!), an annual CPD budget, support to progress e.g. in
obtaining prescribing qualifications, debriefs and mentorship with GPs, access to

The post holder will work within
the Urgent Care Team (UCT) which comprises advanced nurse practitioners, physician
associates, paramedics and GPs. It functions to provide general medical care
to patients who feel they need to be seen urgently, primarily on Practice premises
but also in patients homes and care homes.
The role will include initial history
taking, clinical assessment, appropriate onward referral, diagnosis,
treatment and evaluation of patient care, demonstrating safe clinical
decision-making. The post holder will work collaboratively with UCT members
and the wider healthcare team to meet the patients needs initiating and
maintaining agreed management plans according to local and national protocols.
The post holder will be required to
work within the core business hours of 08:30 18:30 and to participate in
Improved Access hours which may involve working mornings from 07:00, evenings
up to 20:00 and at weekends 0800 12:00
Mentorship and supervision will be
provided by a GP Partner. The level and type of supervision will be dependent
on the post holders experience and acquisition of skills and knowledge and
determined by the organisations clinical governance arrangements.
