Job summary
We are looking to recruit a maternity cover Prescription Clerk to join
our friendly Practice team in Romford. Experience in a GP surgery or pharmacy is compulsory.
North Street Medical Care is a high achieving surgery with over 21,000 patients over two sites; North Street Practice and at the Chadwell Heath
Health Centre in Ashton Gardens. The candidate will be working mainly at the Chadwell Heath Health Centre but may be required to work at both
sites as requested.
The Prescription Clerk we are looking for must have good
communication skills, attention to detail, a 'can-do' attitude and is able to deal with both
patients and surgery staff face to face and over the telephone in a
professional manner.
The role is for 30 hours per week working Monday- Wednesday 9.30 am - 2.30 pm (5 hours per day - no breaks),Thursday
and Friday 8 am 4pm ( 7.5 hours per day hour unpaid break)
You
may occasionally be required to work on a Saturday or Bank Holiday, but
with prior mutual agreement.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will be responsible for undertaking
a range of duties which include providing general assistance to the Practice Team and reception / telephones and act as a focal point of communication between the GPs, Managers,
Receptionists, Patients and local Pharmacies as well as other members of the
Primary Health Care Team, to ensure patients prescriptions are produced within
the current protocols of the surgery.

completed accurately and efficiently following protocol
Process repeat
prescription requests
Deal with queries

Other Duties:
Training
reception staff to undertake script and data duties in your absence
Any other duty as
allocated by members of the management team

repeat prescriptions
To collect repeat
prescription request from the fax machine, post box and reception
To liaise with
patients and pharmacies regarding queries and requests
To ensure that
patients queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP
To regularly go
through prescriptions not collected and unlikely to be collected as a result of
timescale, to remove the details from the patient records and then destroy the
prescription
Ensure up to date
patient information is recorded
