We are looking for an experienced Phlebotomist to join our busy GP surgery in Hackney. We are looking for a friendly approachable and confident phlebotomist to provide an accurate and reliable service to our patients.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of the nursing team contributing to the clinical care of patients by providing a high-quality and accurate blood collection service.

The Wick Health Centre is based in Hackney with a list size of over 8,000 patients. Our friendly team consists of a partner, salaried GP's, Physicians Associates, a Pharmacist, Nurses, and a HCA.

Job responsibilities
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
- Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with protocols and procedures.
- Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers.
- Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity.
- Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient wherever possible.
- Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure.
- Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
- Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
- Notifying the clinical team of any significant patient issues
- Undertake training and development as required in line with the responsibilities of the post and practice policies.

- Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- Experience of dealing with the public/patients in a caring environment
- Aware of need for strict infection prevention control
Desirable
- NHS Care Certificate
- Experience of working with EMIS Web clinical system
- Experience of Microsoft Office software
