Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our small rural General Practice in Scholar Green. We are looking to recruit a Practice Nurse working part time in our purpose built modern surgery (to include two full days 8.30am to 6.30pm).

Main duties of the job

The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing medical services to patients of the Practice. The post holder will use skills, knowledge and competencies as a qualified Nurse in order to be responsible and accountable for managing patient caseloads.

About us

We are based in South East Cheshire on the border with Staffordshire and are part of the SMASH PCN serving the populations of Sandbach, Middlewich, Alsager, Scholar Green and Haslington. Our Practice has just under 5,000 patients.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs

Cytology

Removal of Sutures/clips

Urinalysis

Travel Clinic assessment and vaccinations

ECGs

Hypertension Management/IHD management/Diabetes management/asthma management/COPD management

Learning disability and SMI reviews

Home visits for CDM checks

Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations

Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician

Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs

Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate

Checking emergency drugs at both sites and reordering as required

Participation in administrative systems in the practice

At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records

A duty to advise senior nurse/GP/practice manager of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks

Attend and participate in any practice meetings/clinical/GSF when required.

Lead nurse for infection control

Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
