Job summary
We
are a friendly, forward-thinking GP Practice based in the heart of the
community. We now have an exciting opportunity for a conscientious, friendly and hardworking receptionist to join our practice team at either John Amery Drive or Beaconside Health Centre as sabbatical cover.
We have some flexibility with the role and are ideally looking for around 37.5 hours during the week.
(Starting salary is circa £22.3k pro-rata although this is dependant on experience.)
Main duties of the job
The successful
candidate will need excellent communication skills, be highly organised, have a
positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team. You will be committed to
putting patient care first and share our values and our passion for delivering
quality care.Experience of working in the healthcare sector is preferred.

Job Summary:
Receive, assist and direct patients in
accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous,
efficient and effective way.
Provide
general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly
image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Key
Responsibilities:
- To
have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures and protocols,
working within them all times.
- Ensure
an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and
any other visitors to the practice
- Deal
with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up
appointments.
- Ensure
patients are signposted to the right clinician and seen in a timeframe
appropriate to their symptoms
- Explain
practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those
seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
- Receive
and make telephone calls as required.
Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and
prompt appropriate delivery.
- Prepare
lists and notes for all surgeries and clinics held, ensuring completion of
all associated paperwork.
- Ensure
all correspondence, reports,
results etc are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that
all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
- Open
up premises at the start of the day when first to arrive, de-activate
alarm and make all necessary preparations to receive patients.When last to
leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is totally secured,
internal lights are off and the alarm activated.
- Undertake
any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the
Partners or the Practice Manager.
