Job summary
We are
seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated salaried GP to join our team.
The
position will initially be salaried with the option to become a partner if
desired.
We are a
proactive, friendly practice in the Barnsley area with a list size of over 10,000
and growing.
We
currently have 2 GP partners, 3 Salaried GPs and 3 Advanced Nurse
Practitioners. The team includes Practice Nurses, Phlebotomists, Physician Associates,
Clinical Pharmacists, Health and Well Being Coaches, Care Coordinators
Supported by Practice Management, Administrators and Receptionist. We see little in the way of staff turnover.
We offered
a range of enhanced services and are high QOF achievers. Our last CQC inspection in 2018 rated us
good in all areas. We are members of
the South Primary Care Network and Barnsley Healthcare Federation. Our GP partners is the Clinical Director for
the South Location.
We hold
weekly, monthly clinical and Administrative meetings.
CPD is
important to us and we would be keen for a new doctor to develop an area of
special interests.
We are
offering a competitive remuneration package and working conditions in line with
the BMA contract. Start date is negotiable and we would be happy to wait for

Main duties of the job
- The post-holder will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. The post-holder will undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone and video consultations, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
