Job summary

Sessions: 4 sessions per week plus cover for colleagues

Remuneration: circa £10k per session dependent on experience

Are you an enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivated GP?

This is a new position and we are looking for someone flexible to work 4 sessions per week and to step up to 6-8 sessions when required to cover GP annual leave.

The role will involve both work in practice and working from home on a rotational basis, so a good mixture for the right candidate.

We are looking for Mondays and Wednesdays in particular but can offer some flexibility.

The role attracts 6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata) and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

At present we dont run a duty doctor system. We have regular clinical and whole practice meetings and we have daily coffee time clinical catch ups.We see 14 patients per session (mixed telephone and face to face), with low home visit numbers due to an excellent local visiting service.We have a full-time experienced prescribing ANP to help reduce workload.

Primary Key Responsibilities

1. The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

2. Patient Consultations: Conduct thorough patient assessments, listen attentively to their concerns, and gather relevant medical histories. Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and offer appropriate advice on preventive care and lifestyle modifications.

3. Referrals and Collaborative Care: Refer patients to specialists and coordinate their care as necessary. Communicate and collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, specialists, and allied healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive patient management.

4. Medical Records and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records for all patient encounters, including diagnoses, treatment plans, medications prescribed, and follow-up instructions. Adhere to patient confidentiality and privacy guidelines.

5. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

6. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

7. Effective management of long-term conditions

8. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

9. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles if they become implemented within the practice

10. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

11. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload plus collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals within the organization, including nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, and social workers, to optimize patient care and ensure continuity of care.

12. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

13. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

14. Continuous Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest medical advancements, guidelines, and best practices by participating in continuing medical education (CME) activities, attending conferences, and reading relevant literature. Apply acquired knowledge to enhance patient care and improve clinical outcomes.

15. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of QOF

16. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

17. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
