Job summary
The post holder must be registered paediatric nurse with post graduate qualifications, relevant to the position. They must act within their professional boundaries, providing care for the presenting patient, working within their competencies.
The post holder will work as part of the urgent care team within the Acute Care Hub, as well as providing flexibility to carry out necessary home visits, allocated daily, under the guidance and support of the GP.
Although there will be an emphasis on paediatric care the role will involve some exposure to adult patients in the acute setting.
Main duties of the job
This role will involve telephone triage/consultation, history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the practice. They will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary general practice team to meet the needs of patients, abiding by local policy and procedures.
With training, there may be the opportunity for the post holder to extend their role to include some routine paediatric work such as performing 8-week baby checks and some routine childhood immunisations. Maternal postnatal reviews would be part of this process.
