Job summary

We are seeking a highly organized individual to join our friendly practice team as a Medical Records Summariser. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate summarisation and data entry of patient information on to the medical record, contributing to efficient patient care and administrative processes. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and data protection.

The job is temporary for a minimum of 6 months working flexible hours at the GP surgery, 4 hours a week.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the post holder will be to summarise and Read Code relevant information from patients clinical records onto the practice computer system, working strictly in accordance with the practice summarising protocol.

About us

Ainsdale Village Surgery is a small Practice near Southport with two GP Partners and a list size of around 3800 patients. The clinical team consists of two Salaried GP's, 2 GP Assistants, a Care Co-Ordinator, three Practice Nurses, a Healthcare Assistant, a phlebotomist, and a practice pharmacist. We are also a GP training practice and currently have 5 Doctors in training. Our admin team consists of 6 Care Navigators.

Culling and sorting patients records and letters in preparation for summarising

Reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of the patients medical history.

Read Coding the information into the practice clinical system, EMIS Web.

Participate in regular audits in the practice to ensure the accuracy and quality of the summarised records.

Monitoring progress of notes summarising against practice targets.

Communicate with external healthcare providers to obtain any missing or additional information required for patients records.

Working with clinical team in coding patients for call and recall systems for QOF.

Provide training and support to other staff members on record keeping practices as needed.
