Job summary

We are looking for a registered practice nurse to work across Salisbury & Larkhill surgeries. A warm and compassionate individual who has the ability to work alone with patience ,tact and understanding.

Whilst the vacancy is for a full time nurse we are flexible with working hours we are open 5 days a week 08:00 -18:30.

We are open until 20:00 Monday & Thursday.

This position is initially maternity cover with the possibility of a full premiant position.

About us

We have a team of 5 GPs ,5 ANPs ,3 practice nurses and 4 HCAs.

They all work as a team with an Practice nurse as the lead to support with training and mentoring.

We also have administrators and receptionist supporting the clinical team.

We offer 6 weeks holiday plus Bank Holidays.

Purpose of Job

Working in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the practice Nurse will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care while adhering to the practice safeguarding plicy

The Practice Nurse is expected to be:-

  • Have excellent customer service skills.

  • Energetic and enthusiastic about hard work, able to multitask and organised in your work.

  • Calm in a crisis

  • Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • An effective team player and good communicator with the whole team

  • Good at autonomous working, working to set procedures and protocols.

  • Happy to do the everyday mundane tasks, whilst being able to cope with the ever changing demands of patients, and the NHS

  • Skilled at, or able to quickly learn to use, clinical computer systems.

  • Not afraid to ask for help

    Main tasks

    Daily involvement in the provision of healthcare services at the practice. This may include:-

  • Maintain membership of all relevant professional bodies.
  • Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate programmes to promote health and well-being, and prevent adverse effects on health and well-being
  • Implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for patients with a known long-term condition
  • Identify, and manage as appropriate, treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
  • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that encourage patients to live healthily, and apply principles of self-care
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion using opportunities such as new-patient medicals
  • Support and advise women requesting information relating to family planning needs
  • Ensure compliance with the GMS contract by working to protocols and templates on SystmOne (TPP) and read coding information accurately
