Job summary
We are recruiting a part time Medical Receptionist/
to join our busy team.
We are looking for somebody with experience of
working with the public in a frontline customer service role and IT skills are
essential.
We are a large training practice in Kempston,
Bedford across two sites with a friendly and supportive team of Doctors,
Nurses, Administrators and Receptionists.
The working hours of the Team is under review.
Flexibility is required for holiday and sickness
cover of colleagues.
Previous receptionist experience within a medical
setting would be an advantage, though not essential as full training will be
provided.

Main duties of the job
Ensuring that all enquiries from patients are
handled efficiently and courteously.
Filing, record keeping and the processing
of documents. Liaising with doctors and other members of staff.
Extract and
file medical records and other documents.
Prepare for each surgery, ensuring
premises are tidy.
Receive and make telephone calls and take accurate messages.
Book and cancel appointments and deal efficiently with the computerised
appointments system.
Answer general enquiries and explain practice procedures.
Issue medication prepared by the Dispenser when the dispensary is closed, and
to take and account for any prescription charges due as appropriate.
Maintain
and operate computer and manual administrative systems.
Arrange hospital
transport for patients.
Open and close surgery premises.
Inform patients of
results of hospital tests as directed by the doctor.
The reception/admin staff
forms one team and provides cover across a range of administrative duties associated
with the urgery.

within a supportive and caring environment. As a training practice across two
sites we are at the forefront of clinical practice and our practice ethos is
one which supports training and development.
List size of 15,500, with 6 GP Partners, 5 salaried
GPs, 8 practice nurses, a paramedic , Clinical Pharmacists who are supported by
pro-active Management and Administration teams.
