Job summary
Victoria Surgery has an opportunity for a Medical Receptionist to support our existing team in delivering excellent patient care.
The position is for 18 hours per week, Friday 8am-7pm and Saturday 8.30am-5.00pm. The Saturday shift is paid at an enhanced rate.
The successful candidate will be able to provide cover on other days during periods of annual leave.
Main duties of the job
This is an essential front line role at the practice, providing an efficient and comprehensive service to our patients.
- Answering incoming calls and processing requests for appointments, results etc.
- Greeting patients in a polite and corteous manner on arrival at reception.
- Ensuring patients are provided an appointment with the most appropriate clinical professional.
- Inputing data into patients health care records as necessary.
- Assist patients, doctors and other NHS professionals with telepone queries.
- Ensuring all new patient registrations are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

Victoria Surgery is a well-established and friendly practice in the centre of town caring for a patient population of approximately 11,000. Our team recognises the importance of a good work-life balance.
Our practice team consists of 9 list holding GPs and a dedicated clinical team including, clinical pharmacists, nurse practitioner, 1 nurse and a trainee nursing associate. We are supported by a full management, administration and dispensary team.
We are part of the Bury St Edmunds Primary Care Network and the successful candidate will work alongside a team of Paramedics, Social Prescriber, Health and Wellbeing Coach, Care Coordinators and Pharmacy Technician.
