Fairford as a member of our Reception and Administration Team.
Working with our reception and admin team is interesting, fulfilling and
challenging, all at the same time. Mostly, it it rewarding - especially when
you get the patient to the right place quickly, and when you get that thank you
through the post.
Your role is to offer help and assistance to our patients who are
seeking care, and to put a friendly, welcoming face and voice to our practice.
This means you will receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the
appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and
effective way.
You will project a positive and friendly image to patients and other
visitors, either in person or via the telephone
You will cooperate in all practice matters, providing general assistance
to the whole Practice team ensuring a productive and happy atmosphere, greater
job satisfaction for all concerned and, above all, giving a positive experience
for our patients.
This role is for 16hrs per week, Tuesdays 8:30am to 2:00pm, Wednesdays 8:30am to 13:30pm and Fridays
8:30am to 2:00pm
Main duties of the job
The duties of the receptionist and administrator's role at Hilary
Cottage is wide ranging, and includes:
Dealing with all general enquiries, explain procedures and booking new
and follow-up appointments and advising the Reception & Admin Team Manager
and Doctors when problems arise.
Using judgment and communication skills to ensure that patients with no
prior appointment and needing urgent consultation are seen in a logical and
non-disruptive manner.
Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take
messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt and appropriate delivery of
messaging.
Collecting information, entering data and assisting in Practice
administration work as requested.
Maintaining practice records and registers, appointments, diary, recall
systems etc
Preparing rooms for surgeries and clinic
Liaising with other community staff (Midwives, Frailty Team, District
Nurses, Health Visitors, etc) regarding the monitoring of drugs, maintenance of
records, disposal of patients records, and making of appointments, etc.
Plus many other tasks that
may need to be undertaken, as appropriate to the post, to support the smooth
running of the surgery.

Oxfordshire and Wiltshire borders.
We are a friendly supportive team of around 35 people.
Hilary Cottage Surgery has been a part of the Fairford community for
many years - currently run by 3 GP partners.
We are a small rural practice with around 7500 patients on our books. We
have 7 amazing GPs, a bunch of amazing nurses, a brilliant dispensing team
supported by our super pharmacists. Our admin and reception team are fabulous,
and there aren't enough superlatives to describe that team. You could be one of
them!
