Job summary
What we offer:
A supportive team of 3 Practice Nurses, 3 HCAs and 2 Phlebotomists as well as a Nurse Practitioner and a Mental Health Specialist Nurse offering a wide range of experience, skills and knowledge
Well-equipped treatment rooms to aid independent working but located in close proximity to other nurse team members for collaborative working when necessary
Full orientation to the surgery and the systems we use protocols, policies and PGDs
Regular team and clinical meetings to share information and experiences, with regular guest speakers to maintain CPD
Support and supervision including through revalidation
Opportunity to enhance skills and knowledge through a range of study days, updates and mandatory training
Facilitating the sharing of best practice within community setting
Main duties of the job
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in and
perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing
staff and GPs and within own level of competence:
- Wound care / ulcer care / doppler scanning
- Removal of sutures
- Urinalysis
- Venepuncture
- Injections
- Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations/Travel Clinic
(training provided)
- Contraception (training provided)
- Ear syringing
- ECGs
- Hypertension Management
- Cytology (if trained)
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses
or GPs as appropriate
