We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic GP to join our dedicated team at the Moat House Surgery. We provide high quality care to a list of 12,400 patients in Merstham and surrounding areas. We are looking for a GP to work 4 - 6 sessions per week starting from August 2024.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful expanding team within the NHS. We are seeking an enthusiastic GP to work and develop within an established team.
The working environment is busy and hands-on. Applicants must be capable of rising to the challenge of working in new ways and willing to practice autonomously.
You will provide the full range of NHS primary care services to our registered patients, temporary residents and patients presenting for immediate/necessary treatment including clinical examination, diagnosis, treatment and referral as appropriate.

Our list size is 12,400 and our Practice is purpose built. We are a training Practice and part of the Care Collaborative Primary Care Network. We have recently merged with Greystone House Surgery in Redhill to become The House Partnership.
The Practice has adopted new methods of working via an extended clinical workforce, which includes salaried GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Associates, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants.

Responsible to the GP Partners for clinical and general matters via a named GP Partner and to the Practice Manager for administrative matters.
Prime Objectives
General Practitioners provide confidential patient consultations and initial medical care within a community-based setting.
Responsibilities/Duties
- To be an autonomous professional and an integral member of the Practice team.
- To provide care for registered patients including diagnosis, examination, health education, appropriate treatment, investigation and onward referral.
- To participate in both acute, chronic and anticipatory clinical care, preventative care, screening, risk management and patient education.
- To record all data on the clinical system in line with good clinical record keeping and with SNOMED CT codes relevant to QOF. To undertake and manage the administrative workload generated by clinical work and other administration necessary for the running of the practice.
- To liaise with other healthcare professionals in secondary care.

- Full GMC Registration
- MRCGP already achieved or committed to taking soon
- To work in accordance with accepted professional practice

- Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively and efficiently

- Autonomy: although accountable to the GP Partners as your employers, you must be ultimately responsible for your own clinical practice and must ensure that limitations are acknowledged and any problems reported to the named GP Partner as soon as possible

Clinical Role
- Responsible for providing appropriate, evidence-based clinical care to patients seen and arranging appropriate treatment, investigation and referral
- Managing and following up investigations ordered
- Looking after a case mix of acute and chronic patients and providing good continuity of care
- Paying attention to screening, prevention and chronic care issues when patients attend for acute problems
- All aspects of work with reference to agreed practice, local and national guidelines
- Recording data on the clinical system to a standard compatible with good clinical record keeping and following the practice guidance
- Prescribing should be according to accepted clinical practice and guidelines for acute and repeat prescriptions. It should follow practice policies and procedures, e.g. use of formulary and management of repeat prescribing
- Dealing with telephone contact and messages from patients following consultation/treatment and arranging appropriate follow up
- Home visits when indicated
- Minor surgery, coil fitting and ante-natal work can be undertaken if the applicant has the appropriate training but none of these are requirements
Administrative Role
- To manage the normal administrative workload generated by patient contact such as referral letters, medical certificates, administrative forms, queries from other health professionals, third party reports etc.
- Practice administration which is done on a shared basis such as repeat prescriptions, actioning and coding of significant diagnoses from letters received and medical examinations. Appropriate time will be allowed for these jobs.
- To claim all fees appropriately, e.g. private medical certificates (fees remain the property of the practice)
Teaching Role
- To participate in the education and training of team members as appropriate
- The Practice undertakes some undergraduate teaching but this is not expected to be undertaken by the appointee unless specifically discussed and agreed
Personal Development and Appraisal
- Develop and maintain a personal learning plan and undertake annual appraisal
- Attend and participate in Practice clinical meetings
- It remains the individual's responsibility to remain updated with new developments
- Study leave is one week pro-rata per annum
A job plan based on 9 sessions (other sessions pro-rata) is below:
Full time working weeks is divided over 4.5 days, allowing a half day for other interests, hobbies and CPD as required.
Usual surgeries are 8.30am - 11.00am, 2.30pm - 4.20pm or 3.30pm - 6.00pm. Some GPs have 'catch up' slots, which are optional and surgeries are extended accordingly.
Daily administration tasks would be daily checking and actioning of your own test results returned electronically and dictating referral letters.
Shared administration jobs would be to do the daily repeat prescriptions in rotation with all doctors, checking for items of outstanding monitoring checks and actioning.
There is also correspondence circulated via Docman which will need to be actioned accordingly,
Some flexibility according to the needs of the Practice will be expected. All variations and queries can be discussed with your mentor or the duty doctor of the day
