Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacist to join our well-established Cheltenham team. Our team includes 7 Pharmacists, 2x Technicians and Pre-reg Technician.

This is a part time role (3 days per week), and lends itself to anyone wanting to work across more than one sector/ not work full time. The applicant will ideally have plenty of experience within pharmacy (any sector), +/- an Independent Prescribing (IP) qualification (or be working towards this) +/- having completed the CPPE Primary Care Education pathway or equivalent. If you have not got these qualifications/ training - you will be put through the CPPE PCPEP and IP Pathways.

You will be supporting the delivery of an aspirational pharmacy service to meet patient needs and public health and NHS priorities; this is through medicines optimisation and guidance on high quality, safe and cost-effective medicines support as well as supporting people to manage their own health, medicines and long term conditions. This role is aimed at supporting the development and delivery of the future of General Practice healthcare and advancing the pharmacy profession. If you are a team player, with a passion for helping people get the most out of their medicines, and supporting the NHS to be sustainable for the future, then this is the role for you.

Main duties of the job

Your role will be to support the ongoing work within the six practices in Cheltenham Central PCN to deliver medicines optimisation and offer high quality, safe and cost-effective medicines and patient centred support. You will work closely with individual practice leads at your designated practice(s) and the pharmacy team to tailor the delivery of network priorities and targets with a practice-based focus (this list is not exhaustive: see further details in the attachment to this advert).

Key skills/qualifications vital for this role: GPhC registered, IP qualified+ CPPE Pathway completed or exemption (ideal but not essential for employment as you will be signed up to these), sound therapeutic and clinical knowledge & understanding of the principles of evidence based healthcare, team player and also able to work independently and recognise limitations, excellent verbal and written communication skills, organisational and prioritisation skills, flexibility and adaptability to work pressures

About us

Cheltenham Central is a mature GP Network of 6 practices working closely together. We are led by proactive and forward-thinking Clinical Director (GP) and other GPs who have recognised the benefit the pharmacy team can have to general practice and have worked to grow and develop the team since it was established in 2017. Practices and pharmacy team meet regularly to ensure processes are similar between surgeries so that pharmacists and technicians can easily swap between surgeries both physically and virtually.

You would be primarily based working for one GP surgery in the network. We have two pharmacy hubs, and you may be based at either one, or both or in practice as service delivery requires (Underwood Surgery and/or the Wilson Health centre +/- other surgeries within the network). The pharmacy hubs ensure you have support from the Pharmacy team and will work both remotely and potentially physically where services require across the Network.

We have an ethos of striving to work to the top of our professional license. As a diverse and friendly team we recognise and aim to utilise the mixture of skills and personalities we have; supporting each other to develop both personally and professionally. With our teams experience of primary care, hospital, community pharmacy and commissioning, this is an excellent nourishing environment to grow as a pharmacist and work to the top of your skills and abilities. Wages will be negotiable depending upon experience and qualifications
