Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, forward-thinking nurse to join our friendly, rural practice.

We are ideally looking for an experienced practice nurse to join our team. However, for the right candidate we will consider nurses new to general practice and return to practice candidates.

You will possess a positive mindset and excellent communication skills, with an ability to demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.. You will be able to work as part of a team and autonomously with equal skill.

There will be a requirement to support the nursing team with flexibility to meet the varying demands of the post.

You will receive training and support to develop your professional career with us.

Competitive salary, negotiable depending on experience.

The role is a part time position for 28 hours.

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities will be providing high standard, evidence-based care to our patients to include health checks, immunisations, cervical cytology and wound care.

This role will include a specialism in the care of patients with respiratory conditions, which will be developed through undertaking the appropriate training if not already part of the role holders skill set.

You will be an integral part of a dynamic nursing team focusing on supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring long term conditions, health promotion and screening activities.

About us

Price's Mill Surgery is located in the heart of the beautiful market town of Nailsworth. We are a friendly, progressive practice with a patient list size of 9400 patients. Our clinical team comprises 5 GP Partners, 2 GPs, Lead Nurse, 3 Practice Nurses, Frailty Nurse, Research Nurse, 2 Healthcare Assistants, a Phlebotomist, a Clinical Pharmacist and a Pharmacy Technician. Our experienced administrative and patient co-ordinator teams support the delivery of clinical services.

We are a GP training practice. We encourage and support personal and team development. Our clinical system is SystmOne.

Job responsibilities

The Core Responsibilities/Duties of the role are:

  • To perform routine nursing treatments related to patient care as directed by the Lead Nurse, GPs or independently to agreed protocols
  • Provide general and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols and with regard to current training) with referral to the GPs or Lead Nurse as necessary
  • To develop a specialism/specialise in the care of patients with respiratory conditions in conjunction with the GP Respiratory Lead
  • Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary.

  • Participate in the management of treatment room supplies and equipment

  • Undertake the collection of specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, urine culture and smears.

  • Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team

  • To work at all times in ways consistent with the practice Values and Behavioural Framework
