Job summary

This is an opportunity to join our highly regarded semi-rural practice in the town of Nailsworth, a vibrant place full of independent small businesses and shops. 

We are looking for a motivated and positive Healthcare Assistant to join our experienced and knowledgeable nursing team led by our Lead Nurse Manager. This can be a full time role or part time for the right candidates.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to assist the practice clinical team in delivering safe, effective and high quality services to the practice population. You will undertake routine patient care under the supervision of our Lead Nurse Manager and Practice Nurses, managing your own pre-booked clinics. 

Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • ECG recording
  • Phlebotomy
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Processing and managing laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
  • Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
  • Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual (vaccinations / injections)
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • Wound care

Price’s Mill Surgery is located in the heart of the beautiful market town of Nailsworth. We are a friendly, progressive practice with a patient list size of 9300 patients. Our clinical team comprises 6 GP Partners, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants, a Clinical Pharmacist and a Pharmacy Technician. Our experienced administrative and reception teams support the delivery of clinical services.

We are a GP training practice. We encourage and support personal and team development. Our clinical system is SystmOne.
