Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Prescription Clerk/Pharmacy Tech. to join our friendly and busy GP Practice with Pharmacy or Dispensary experience only, to provide a courteous and efficient prescribing service for the surgery.
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and organisation skills, and have the ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team, within a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is essential along with being an effective team player.
Main duties of the job
Good telephone and inter-personal skills
*Process routine prescription requests
*Manage prescription queries accordingly
*Receive calls and tasks from patients and colleagues
*Liaise with the prescribing clinical team on any areas of concern.
*Liaise with the medicine management team relating to routine queries
*Ensure that actions are taken where permitted to improve the repeat prescribing process.
*Receive, check, and print repeat prescription requests/ ensure effective ERD system.
*Ensure that patients are notified immediately of any medication changes.
*Check workflows/tasks daily to ensure backlog is kept to a minimum and notify relevant staff

To answer the telephone promptly and politely.
To generate repeat prescription requests on the surgery computer system via
patients, on-line requests and email requests
To generate patient requests for prescription items not on their list by sending
a task to the Pharmacy Team/Doctor
Reauthorise repeat medication
To ensure correct protocols are followed regarding ordering and tracking of
controlled drug requests.
To remove any printed prescriptions from printer and assign to relevant GP
tray
To sort and file prescriptions ready for collection when returned to reception.
To be an active and supportive member of the reception and admin team.
Ability to follow instructions accurately.
To have a positive attitude and approach towards problem solving.
