From aiding with CQC preparations to navigating practice mergers and partnership issues, your role will be instrumental in ensuring the success and resilience of our healthcare ecosystem.

Main duties of the job

Collaborating closely with our dedicated GP and PCN Support Team, you'll spearhead the delivery of a diverse array of services, ranging from administrative support to HR functions, fostering trust and forging strong bonds with stakeholders across the board. By championing the benefits of Federation membership, you will cultivate enduring relationships with GP Practices, Primary Care Networks, Clinical Directors, Business Managers, and practice management professionals.

As the operational leader driving our Primary Care Networks and General Practice support infrastructure, you will work hand in hand with the Head of General Practice and PCN Support to enhance existing services and explore innovative avenues for improvement. Your responsibilities will encompass everything from refining operational processes to developing groundbreaking strategies that elevate the standard of care we provide.

About us

Conexus Healthcare Community Interest Company (CIC) is the federation for general practice in Wakefield, we have five areas of work.

  1. Operational Support we deliver high-quality public-facing health and wellbeing services across the Wakefield District on behalf of our shareholder practices;
  2. Training we deliver training, development and consultancy support across the UK as well as a one-stop shop for training for General Practice within the West Yorkshire boundary;
  3. Strategic Development we support our General Practices and Primary Care Networks to be more resilient, sustainable, and effective in delivering care for the health needs of their populations
  4. Back Office Support we provide infrastructure services to our General Practice and Primary Care Networks in support of their operations;
  5. Providing a voice for General Practice within the Health and Care System alongside the local medical committee and primary care networks, we provide a representative voice into the health and care system ensuring our shareholders are represented and to work collaboratively with our wider partners.

Working with the Head of General Practice and PCN Support to ensure the successful delivery of a range of high-quality and responsive services to and for the benefit of Wakefield District Practices and Primary Care Networks including

  • All 7 PCN hosted services and workforce
  • All PCN sub-contracts managed via Conexus
  • PCN Development activities
  • General Practice resilience support
  • General practice and PCN workforce training and development needs assessment and delivery
  • GP engagement and leadership of communities, neighbourhoods and Integrated Network Teams.

Use expertise in Practice Management to lead on the support we provide to General Practices who have been identified as needing additional support, including supporting with CQC preparations, practice mergers, partnership issues and recruitment.

Ensure delivery of a wide range of services to PCNs and Practices utilising expertise and resources from within and outside own direct reports, commissioning and influencing the provision of high-quality outcomes to exceed expectations.

Actively seek and support opportunities for new and improved services in support of our Practices and PCNs, finding ways to improve cooperation and collaboration across organisational and system boundaries

Ensure the ongoing smooth running of current services including dealing with day-to-day operational delivery and any issues that arise.

Develop trust and strong working relationships with GP Practices, Primary Care Networks, Clinical Directors, Business Managers and practice management, at all times promoting an understanding and demonstrating the advantages of Federation membership.

Deputise for the Head of General Practice and PCN Support where appropriate.

People

  • Educated to Masters degree level or demonstrable evidence of having acquired an equivalent amount of directly relevant management experience
  • Demonstrable evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the role

Desirable

  • Recognised management qualification at level 5 or above e.g ILM, CMI

Experience

  • Experience of working as a Practice Manager in General Practice
  • Successful staff management experience, including the setting of objectives, team and individual appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues.
  • Experience of managing through complex and unpredictable change.
  • Experience of working in a medium to large complex organisation
